Following the release of the latest Teen Pregnancy Statistics for the last year, it has been reported that well over 200,000 girls fell pregnant, many of whom are between the ages of 10 and 14 years old, we need to act, and act fast, to prevent many more young girls from destroying their lives. The only effective way of prevention is to provide quality training that enables adolescent to understand exactly how their bodies work, make informed choices and not succumb to peer pressure.
Over the past 25 years, in my capacity as the CEO of Rape Wise SA, The Proactive Education Group and now as head of training at Buswell and Associates, I have presented Teen Sexuality Workshops to thousands of boys and girls in both primary and high schools throughout South Africa.
Most parents and educators recognise the importance of children and teens having accurate, age appropriate sexuality education as they grow. Communicating openly and honestly about sexuality issues can have lifelong benefits for young people.
